I've had so many of these realisations myself recently. I still don't have words for many of the things I experienced as a child, but I'm slowly learning that I can express things in many different ways, which is why I paint now. Finding my voice has been a very different experience to what I imagined, and an incredibly difficult one, but I'm so glad I'm able to persevere.

Thank you for sharing this; so much of it resonated, and that's always a gift to me.

Thank you, Debs! I'm glad you enjoyed it (sometimes I doubt that's the right word). But mostly I'm glad you're exploring different ways to find yourself again and reclaim your voice.

Art is healing for so many! As someone who still can't draw or do crafts I wonder if art works only for some, and if so why that might be?

I know what you mean; "enjoy" doesn't seem right somehow with this kind of writing, but I haven't discovered a more suitable word yet, either.

I think a big part of healing, for me, anyway, is moving away from the ideas of right or wrong, and can or can't. I used to say "I can't draw", and I'm starting to realise that that came from a fear of doing it "wrong". The more I heal, the more I relax into what's right *for me*; the more I create. And the more I create, the more I heal.

So not all hope lost for me and my two left hands :).

I do enjoy taking others' art in, so perhaps that could be a starting point of some sorts.

Thanks again, Debs - food for thought.

That's a great place to start. I find inspiration from all sorts of other art forms as well - film, music, TV, books. Whatever makes your heart sing 😊

Thanks, Mike! It’s time I face the very low probability of me returning to a traditional HR career given I’ve lost interest and am absolutely fascinated with everything trauma related. So trying to figure out how I could make work and passion come together!

Thank you as well for sharing, and your constant support and encouragement. It really means a lot.

Adina it's pretty rare the person finds their true calling! Many of us search and wander for years without finding it.

It sounds like you've got a second career in mind. That seems scary but I've always believed that if one has passion in what they know and do, opportunities will arise.
